Executed in acrylic, this large and highly graphic composition depicts a reclining female nude outlined in vivid orange against an expressive dark background of black, charcoal gray, white and blue-gray brushwork.

The figure is reduced to strong, flowing contours and broad areas of warm color, while her spectacular white hair creates a luminous focal point around the face. The brilliant orange line defining the body continues into the thin orange border surrounding the composition, giving the work an especially cohesive and sophisticated graphic quality.

The contrast between the sensual, rounded silhouette of the reclining figure and the energetic abstract handling of the background gives the painting a distinctly modern character. Dumont’s background as an illustrator is evident in the confident line, strong color contrasts and immediate visual impact of the composition.

The work is signed Dumont at the lower right.

The reverse retains a handwritten identification reading “Nu Orange – Acryliques – Dumont Marc,” together with the artist’s former location in Combs-la-Ville, France.

The painting is presented under glass in an elaborate cream and gilt-toned molded frame, complemented by a broad black mat and a fine orange inner line that echoes the palette of the artwork.
