A 19th century Italian overmantel mirror, the rectangular plate set within a gilt anthemion-cast liner and flanked by a pair … Read more A 19th century Italian overmantel mirror, the rectangular plate set within a gilt anthemion-cast liner and flanked by a pair of arched painted panels, each showing a gilded classical urn of roses, poppies and mixed flowers on a pale blue ground. The panels are divided by slender ebonized columns with gilt capitals and bases, beneath a frieze banded in gilt palmettes and centered by a gilt oak-leaf and acorn mount between rosettes. The figured veneered frame steps forward at the cornice and rests on projecting base blocks, the mirror plate carrying the soft spotting of age. See less
