Two small figures appear beneath the trees, while distant architecture and countryside complete the finely rendered composition.
The work is signed “Wm Meyerowitz” in pencil along the lower margin and additionally bears a Meyerowitz signature/inscription within the plate. This dual-signature format is consistent with documented Meyerowitz etchings held in major museum collections.
The composition and dimensions closely correspond with Meyerowitz’s The Willows, circa 1920, examples of which are held by the Blanton Museum of Art. The museum records the work as an etching and drypoint measuring approximately 10 × 12 inches; this example measures approximately 9.75” H × 12” W at the image/plate area. Because the exact composition has not been independently matched to a museum photograph, the title The Willows should be considered a probable rather than definitive identification.
Presented under glass with a wide black surround and slender vintage metallic-finish frame. The warm toning of the paper complements the rich linear quality of the print. See less
