The table features a substantial fixed plank top above a deeply shaped, scalloped frieze, supported by four elaborately spiral-turned legs with bulbous and ring-turned details.

The lower structure is reinforced by a traditional stretcher base, with substantial squared feet and posts providing a strong architectural presence. The table's construction displays traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery with hand-set wooden pegs, along with irregularities, shrinkage, surface wear, and old repairs consistent with age and long use.

The richly patinated oak has developed a warm, dark brown surface with pronounced natural grain and historic character. Particularly appealing are the contrast between the lighter, time-worn oak top and the darker turned elements, as well as the undulating scalloped frieze that frames the table on all sides.

A compelling example of early English oak furniture, suitable as a side table, hall table, lamp table, or occasional table, and equally appropriate for an interiors collection focused on historic English furniture.
