United Wilson Porcelain Factory Classic Chinoiserie Hand-Painted Ceramic Planter
Measures 10" wide, 5 1/2" deep and 9" tall.
This semi-cylindrical shape with a flat back is designed as a bough pot or flower brick. It can sit flush against a wall or on a mantelpiece. The vertical open slats along the sides traditionally allowed roots, bulbs, or smaller floral stems to breathe and be arranged symmetrically. The piece features vibrant, hand-painted polychrome decoration consisting of large butterflies, delicate floral sprigs, and a gilded, scalloped rim. This design draws heavily from 18th-century European porcelain motifs—particularly Chelsea and Sèvres styles—mixed with a Chinese Famille Rose influence. The vessel stands on decorative, pale celadon green ball feet.
