This a very rare Turquoise Color.
An exceptional, rare example of late 19th-century French ceramic mastery, this monumental Barbotine (slip-cast) Majolica platter was produced by the renowned Faiencerie de Sarreguemines, circa 1880–1890.
This imposing piece features the highly dramatic hunting scene titled "The Hunt of the Wolves" (La Chasse au Loup), cataloged under mold number 592.

This was created after the well known Artis, in the spirit of the famous French animalier painter Alexandre-François Desportes.

While this specific model is most commonly documented with a dark cobalt bleu de four ground, this magnificent specimen boasts the incredibly scarce celestial turquoise-blue background. The lighter sky provides a theatrical, luminous backdrop that dramatically sharpens the three-dimensional, high-relief central combat between a fierce pack of hunting hounds and a cornered wolf.
The central scene is dynamically sculpted in the spirit of the iconic French animalier painter Alexandre-François Desportes.The platter is masterfully framed by thick, intricately molded branches and rich ochre oak leaves that fluidly entwine at each end to form two structural, integrated handles.Markings & Authenticity
