An atmospheric oil painting depicting the Ipswich River in winter, signed “M. Weatherall” at the lower left and bearing a handwritten reverse label identifying the title and medium. The signature and Massachusetts subject are a common theme of Mary Pennington Weatherall (American, 1930–2018), an Ipswich resident and landscape painter.

The composition unfolds in broad horizontal passages of snow, reflective water, and wooded shoreline.
