The … Read more Offering a vibrantly colored antique French lighting bowl in mottled red/oranges and blue/purples, in the manner of Schneider, unsigned. The hand-wrought metalwork of a talented ferronnier features large, decorative leaves on both the canopy and the three “rosettes,” as they are called.

Handsome enough when unlit, this handmade art glass bowl springs to life and offers up colors that could only have been inspired by a sunrise or sunset. Between the colors and the leaves, the French reverence for the natural world...

Wired and fitted with a standard American socket which can take any wattage you care to use. Put this on a dimmer and feather it down in the evening and you’ll be gazing upon a distant planet.

Dimensions: about 14” in diameter including the metal, 13 3/4 otherwise. Hanging around 22 inches as shown. Extra chain, as photographed, is included.

N.B. Typically, in the “old” France, fixtures like this were hung by a single hook screwed into the ceiling. The single metal rod going through the canopy ends in an “eye” intended to slip over the hook attached to the ceiling. So, you and/or your electrician will be tasked with inventing a way to hang this fixture utilizing the open “eye” at the end of the iron rod inside the canopy. Not rocket science, but a challenge to be a bit creative. See less
