This very old and hard to find antique French copper daubiere or braiserie.
Hand made with separate pieces of copper fixed together in a castellated manner.

Castellated French copper refers to antique copper cookware made with interlocking, finger-like joints (also called dovetail, wolf-toothed, or notched seams) along the walls and base before being brazed together.

This wonderful pot has hand forged handles and a top pull with hand made copper rivets.
The interior is tin lined. Pure hand-wiped tin linings are traditional because tin prevents the copper from reacting with acidic braising ingredients (like wine and tomatoes) while offering safe, highly conductive cooking performance.

The pan/pot has a lot of indentations, marks, wear etc as it should be when collecting fine old French copper cookware.

The lid is snug yet has some worn and bent areas as shown. It could be placed into the bottom of the pot with some effort by the new owner. We will allow the new owner of this pot to push the lid into the bottom vessel.
Given its age and how it was used in very hot cooking conditions, the lid is slightly misshaped.

Lovely copper patina. Natural copper patina that is in as found condition. W have not shined up the pot.
