Its elongated ovoid body rises above a fluted pedestal foot and square plinth, while the tall, slightly flaring neck is ornamented with symmetrical palmettes, scrolling tendrils, and flower heads. A pronounced leaf border encircles the shoulder, and elongated gadroons articulate the lower body. The maker, likely an independent workshop producing fine quality grand tour carvings that represent important antiquities.

One face presents an elaborate trophy of ancient arms, organized around a crested helmet and cuirass, with greaves below and overlapping shields and weapons to either side. A prominent oval shield bears a mask resembling the head of Medusa. The carving contrasts the rounded surfaces of the armor with finely incised ornament, creating a compact military composition that complements the urn’s classical architectural form.

The adjoining and reverse faces carry a sequence of classical figures in relief. A seated, partially draped male turns his head to one side, while another grouping comprises a standing male, a draped woman with her hand raised toward her face, and a bearded figure holding a long staff. Their varied poses, folded garments, and measured spacing give the vessel interest around its circumference. Although suggestive of an antique mythological narrative, the figures cannot yet be assigned confidently to a particular episode or named ancient prototype.
