Antique English leather wingback armchair, c.1820
A classic English George lll wingback armchair with an arched high back, brass nailhead trim and flared wings in a pale olive tan leather. Very comfortable and snug to sit in. The high back and outspread wings were made to shield the sitter from drafts and trap heat from a fireplace. The leather is in very good condition and shows years of use and has faded over time. I particularly like the subtle curve to the armrests. Standing on square tapering legs, finished in brass casters. Good overall condition. Age and use wear to leather seat.
