A dramatic vintage black chinoiserie desk with a richly detailed, hand-painted finish and wonderfully tailored silhouette. The black lacquered case is decorated throughout with gilt and red chinoiserie scenes—pagodas, florals, garden elements, and stylized vessels—giving the piece a warm, collected presence.
The desk features a three-drawer apron over two pedestal drawer banks, offering seven drawers in total for substantial storage. Its inset top is finished in a muted oxblood-red panel with painted gilt borders, while restrained gilt highlights along the edges and base give the desk definition without competing with the painted decoration. Original-style brass pulls complete the look.
