The flowers are painted in a rich traditional palette of iron red, yellow, blue and green against a creamy ground, surrounded by a scrolling foliate border.

The deeply shaped, scalloped form is especially appealing, with a green-and-blue geometric pattern continuing around the raised outer edge. At 17.5 inches high, it has enough scale and color to work as a substantial decorative wall piece rather than simply a plate.

The reverse bears the hand-painted De Porceleyne Fles Delft factory mark, together with painter/decorator and production markings. Royal Delft used this bottle/JT/Delft marking system on its hand-painted wares, accompanied by painter and dating code for 1974.

An excellent addition to a Delftware collection or a collected wall of European ceramics, and particularly effective in a dining room, kitchen, breakfast room or layered traditional interior.
