An antique Macey 3-stack barrister bookcase, crafted from oak around 1920. This functional and decorative piece features three individual stacking sections, each with a glass-front door that retracts into the cabinet. The bookcase is signed with the distinctive "Macey" logo, indicating its maker. Barrister bookcases, also known as lawyer's bookcases, were designed for easy transport and modular expansion, making them popular for offices and homes. This example showcases the characteristic quarter-sawn oak grain, adding to its vintage appeal. The design includes a top cornice, three stackable sections, and a base with four elegant cabriole feet, typical of the period. This piece offers practical storage for books and collectibles while serving as a classic example of early 20th-century American furniture craftsmanship.
