Best of the best example covered all around with finest burled walnut, and gorgeous bird's eye maple on the inside. Top section opens and reveals the slope covered with a beautiful antique purple fabric that spreads over both halves of the piece. Upper and lower halves of the writing surface also lift up to reveal additional storage compartment. Upper portion of the writing table has a lidded compartment, in addition to another three slots which once upon the time housed the inkwell. Secondary wood is poplar. Made 1870's in USA. Condition is very good, minimal use /age wear - please see photos. Size is great to fit anywhere at 13" wide, 9" deep across, and 4.5" tall when closed, while overall when opened and extended it reaches 18" long. This will be a great collection addition, coffee table or console decoration, a useful piece gracing any traditional or mid-century setting! See less
