Set of 6 Interior Crafts of Chicago French Provincial Carved Oak Dining Chairs 1960's

With detailed carvings on the fronts and backs, so they look as beautiful from the front as they do when not in use back under the table.

Made by Interior Crafts of Chicago (est. 1951), a trade-only custom maker known for high-quality, French reproductions developed with designer Richard Himmel.

Style
This is a French Louis XV & Louis XIII set includes two wingback host armchairs and four side chairs. The two chair types are carved in slightly different French styles, which designers often pair on purpose.

Armchairs (2): These are Louis XV–style wing chairs, sometimes called bergère-style host chairs. They have cabriole legs ending in scroll toes, a carved motif on each knee, a molded arched frame, and padded arm rests.

Side chairs (4): These are in the heavier Louis XIII / Régence country style. They have straight tapered legs with carved leaf panels and scroll feet, an H-shaped stretcher with a carved flower frieze, and a carved crest at the top of the back.

Wood and finish: Open grain Oak, with a warm medium-brown hand-rubbed finish. Common for Chicago custom maker like Interior Crafts.

Condition Report
