Henry Link Furniture was founded as a division of Dixie Furniture by Henry Talmadge Link in the early 1960s. Link organized and launched the Dixie Furniture Company in 1936. After visiting the Ford Motor Company plant, he was inspired by the assembly process and upon his return to Lexington, he installed automatic conveyors at their Dixie Furniture Company. He is known as a key figure for revolutionizing the American furniture industry by introducing these mass production techniques to the furniture business. To facilitate exponential growth four separate divisions were created including Henry Link Furniture (1960s), Link-Taylor (1950), Young-Hinkle (1962), and Dixie-Linwood (1972) while another division called Wicker by Henry Link began in 1984. Masco Corporation bought Henry Link in 1987 merging them into Lexington Home Brands. Henry Link passed away in 1983 and was inducted into the American Furniture Hall of Fame in 1998.
