This antique bench from Italy features three open-carved splats arranged in a rhythmic sequence across the back frame. Each splat is composed of interlocking oval forms that create a stylized ribbon or ring motif, giving the bench an architectural quality while maintaining visual openness. The repeating oval carvings housed within a simple molded frame. The gently curved arms sweep outward from the back rail before descending gracefully toward the seat, creating a fluid silhouette that softens the otherwise rectilinear framework. Their restrained shaping complements the decorative splats without overwhelming the design. The back rail itself remains simple and linear, allowing the carved splats to serve as the primary decorative focal point. The legs are slender and elegant, contributing to the bench's refined proportions.
