This beautiful piece symbolizes a pomegranate, which represents fertility, life, death, and resurrection. It features exquisite Chinese ceramics shaped as altar fruit, with a beautiful low-fire glaze and delicately applied ceramic leaves and a stem, revealing the seeds that the fruit is known for.

Typically, these fruits were offered as spiritual blessings or filled with material gifts such as money and other valuable items. This particular fruit exhibits stunning shades of green, purple/plum, and brown.
Please use magnified photos to show age-appropriate wear, along with small chips of pottery, in this piece, we recognize one small place on the tip of the stem and on a leaf/stem; these are very old spots, which the coloring reflects.

All of our listings of altar fruit are NOT the newer productions you may see on the market. These are guaranteed antique vintage varieties.

This listing is for one single pomegranate, but we also have other fruit available in separate listings. At the time of this publication, we have a total of four pieces. If you would like to purchase more than one, we can certainly combine shipping, so please message us before checkout.
