Emilio Rizzi established himself primarily as a portraitist, both during his formative years in Paris and in his later years in Brescia, perfecting his ability to delineate the psychological features of faces. His painting technique relies on the interplay of multiple brushstrokes to create the final result, while also working on a meticulously executed underlying drawing. Presented here is a nearly full-length portrait of a distinguished, elegant, and smiling gentleman. The painting has been restored and relined in the past (the Lonardini laboratory stamp of Brescia is on the back). It is presented in a period gilded frame. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
