Painted in the rich, thick impasto technique characteristic of the historic California Plein Air movement, this piece channels the legacy of early 25th-century masters like Edgar Payne and Hanson Puthuff.

The Composition
The scene captures a dramatic, sun-drenched central or southern California promontory:
• The Coastline: A steep, verdant hillside drops toward the water, rendered with thick, stippled brushstrokes in olive greens, warm ochres, and earthy tones. Soft whites and lavenders define the rocky crags meeting the surf.
• The Sea: The Pacific transitions from a deep, saturated cerulean blue at the horizon to shimmering turquoise near the shore, accented by soft ribbons of seafoam and gentle whitecaps.
• Signature & Medium: Signed by the artist lower left. Executed in oil on linen and housed inside a substantial, ornate hand-carved period-style frame that accentuates the classical aesthetic.
