The waist under the top and the inward curl of the chow feet come straight from Ming furniture, drawn here in pine at 39 inches square and 18 inches high. In black, the form reads graphic, almost calligraphic, especially against a pale rug or bleached floors.

Use it where you want one dark, deliberate shape at floor level - modern rooms take it as sculpture, traditional rooms take it as lacquer. Either way it holds the drinks and stays out of the argument. See less
