The composition centres on a finely modelled water carrier figure executed in bronze and gilt bronze, displaying the naturalistic modelling and romantic historicism characteristic of french decorative sculpture of the period. Richly worked surfaces and sculptural detailing are enhanced by a naturally developed antique patina. Converted or fitted for use as a table lamp, the sculptural bronze body supports a single light above, creating an imposing vertical silhouette. The combination of figurative sculpture and illumination makes this an especially decorative statement piece suitable for a console, library, study or traditional interior.
