This antique Burmese bamboo lacquer tray has a gently crackled center panel and the soft sheen that comes from years of handling. Lacquerware is one of Burma's oldest crafts, with artisans building up coat after coat of lacquer over a bamboo base to make trays and bowls that carried food and offerings for temple and home.

At 17 inches across and 2.5 inches high, it works as a tray on an ottoman or coffee table, a catchall on a console or a serving piece for the bar. Hung or leaned on a wall, the round of rich red also acts as a quiet piece of wall art.
