The upper section has three … Read more A fantastic early 20th century mahogany glazed bookcase with an arrangement of shelves and cupboards. The upper section has three smooth running sliding glazed doors with an arrangement of three adjustable shelves to either of the three sections. The lower section is made of a further three cupboards with fixed shelves to the left and central sections with the right hand cupboard being left open with no shelves in place. Each of the doors to both the top and bottom sections are complemented with brass cup handles. The cabinet has a gently oversailing cornice and is raised on a moulded stepped plinth base whilst all being supported with the original pine panelled back. This beautiful cabinet was used for storing ordinance survey maps and leather bound books about botany and ecology with its previous owner being a regarded biologist. The bookcase splits into two sections for easy removal and assembly. In good country house condition with excellent colour and grain. English, circa 1900.
