This refined late 19th-century French Louis XV–style mantel clock, dating to circa 1889, combines richly cast ormolu bronze with an elegant enamel dial and a quality mechanical movement by the celebrated French clockmaker S. Marti et Cie.
The sculptural case reflects the flowing character of French Louis XV and Rococo design, with elaborate scrolling acanthus leaves, floral ornamentation, curved architectural forms, and finely cast bronze detailing. The warm gold ormolu surface has developed an attractive antique patina that emphasizes the depth of the casting and gives the clock a sophisticated period appearance.
At the center is a contrasting white enamel dial with Arabic numerals and dark hands, creating excellent readability against the richly gilded bronze case.
The movement is stamped “S. Marti et Cie – Médaille d’Argent 1889,” identifying it with one of the respected French clockmaking firms of the late 19th century.
