A wonderful pair of long oak benches from a convent in northern france. The broad heavily patinated tops are constructed of two planks and fixed with pegged joints. The gently oversailing planks are supported on four block turned column legs and finished on balbous bun feet. The legs are united by an ‘h’stretcher and on firm standing with no rocks or wobbles. Reassuringly heavy and of good quality, ready to serve for another hundred years. Price is for the pair. French, circa 1900.
