This is a copy of the painting by David Teniers the Younger (1610 - 1690), preserved in the Louvre Museum. It is signed David Teniers at the bottom right, and on the back is written 'D. Teniers 1671', suggesting a work proposed as an autograph by the Flemish painter, although this is not the case. Numerous versions and variants can be found in other museums and collections, as well as various prints of the painting. The scene depicts various people intent on carrying out acts of help for others, in particular those that are evangelically called works of mercy: feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, clothing the naked, sheltering pilgrims, visiting the sick, visiting the imprisoned, and burying the dead. The painting is presented in an early 20th-century frame. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
