The cast metal has aged to a dark olive-bronze on the outside, with warm copper showing where hands have worn it smooth. Inside, the surface is rough with the grain of the casting, centered on a raised circle in the base and flecked with specks of gold, copper and a trace of red. The urli is a traditional vessel of Kerala and South India, used to hold water, flowers and lamps, and this petite size was made for daily use in a household.

At 9 inches across and 3 inches tall, it fits on a nightstand, bathroom shelf, entry table or the corner of a desk, where it holds keys, rings, a single floating bloom or a tea light. The quiet, dark patina goes with stone, plaster and warm wood.
