The rim is manipulated by hand into several sharp, undulating peaks of varying heights, dominated by a tall, cresting wave that gives the vessel an asymmetrical, flowing profile. Hand-blown by Venetian glassmakers, the piece utilizes an opaline glass casing technique, fusing a vibrant rose-pink interior with a dense milky white underlayer. When illuminated, the glass displays rich tonal variation, deepening to concentrated magenta in the base of the well and shifting to semi-translucent blush pink along the tapered extensions. A clear, solid crystal base provides balance and stability to the spreading upper body. The underside of the star-shaped foot preserves a damaged blue-and-white foil label bearing the partial text and seahorse emblem associated with Murano manufacture. Four circular surface-protection pads remain adhered to the base tips. Reflecting the popular Italian design aesthetic of the 1960s, this decorative bowl demonstrates the fluid sommerso and opaline manipulation characteristic of mid-century Venetian art studios. Proportioned as an eye-catching table centrepiece or vide-poche, the vessel stands 16 cm high at its tallest peak and measures 20 cm across its widest opposing points. Its glossy surface and organic lines make it suitable for display on a low table, console, or lighted cabinet. See less
