Each intersection is centred with a delicate gilded star motif, framing small white studs within the dark field. On the lid, this intricate pattern is set flush within a broad border of glossy black enamel, while the four upright side panels carry the matching design around the exterior. The underside mirrors the intricate geometric enamelling of the cover but omits the solid black framing band, extending the interlocking pattern across the entire flat base. Smooth, un-enamelled rounded corners display the underlying silver structure, which has a notably solid heft weighing 188 grams. A tightly fitted five-piece barrel hinge secures the lid, which opens cleanly by way of an unobtrusive silver lip positioned along the front edge. Inside, both compartments retain a rich wash of gold vermeil. The inner lid is engraved at the centre with an elaborate armorial crest surmounted by a helm, coronet, and scrolling foliate mantling. Directly beneath this engraving, the silver is struck with Austrian guarantee stamps denoting 900 standard fineness, alongside an incised workshop serial number, 4519.

Measuring 7.7 cm wide by 6.6 cm deep, the box was manufactured in Austria, probably in the 1920s. Its compact proportions, tight closure, and heavy-gauge construction make it well suited for use as a collector's snuff box, vanity container, or desk accessory. See less
