The rim is finished with an alternating pointed chevron edge, echoing the disciplined geometric lines of the Art Deco movement. Vertical fluting lines the tapering sides, alternating between clear panels and lightly textured frosted bands that diffuse incoming light. Moulded from green uranium glass, the bowl exhibits a soft, translucent yellow-green tint in ambient daylight. When exposed to ultraviolet illumination, the chemical composition triggers an intense, uniform neon-green fluorescence throughout the body. The varied surface treatment and substantial glass thickness create sharp contrasts in luminance across the faceted edges and handles. The circular base features an integral foot rim surrounding an underside medallion decorated with a multi-point starburst. Embossed capital lettering reading ""FAIT EN BELGIQUE"" is cast directly into the glass along the lower perimeter, confirming its Belgian manufacture. This marking was commonly used by regional interwar glassworks, such as Scailmont and Doyen, on pieces intended for export. Measuring 25 cm in diameter, 32 cm across the projecting handles, and 12 cm in height, the vessel offers generous capacity for use as a table centrepiece or fruit bowl. The heavy moulded base provides reliable stability, while the wide, open profile accommodates decorative fruit displays or serving arrangements. Manufactured around 1930, the bowl reflects the sophisticated pressed glass techniques popularised in Western Europe between the wars. It demonstrates how decorative glassware combined modernist shapes with chemical colour formulation to create everyday tableware suited to contemporary dining settings. See less
