The base is constructed from curved sections of warm-toned teak timber, joined cleanly to create undulating cutaways that allow light to pass through the structure from every angle. The timber displays a rich golden-brown grain with an attractive satin sheen across both the inner arcs and outer faces. The clear glass disc rests securely on small rubber pads inset into the tips of the three timber supports. By keeping the top entirely transparent, the glass allows an unobstructed view of the sweeping tripod structure below, while offering a practical, wipe-clean surface suitable for everyday use in a modern living space. Dating from the 1960s, the design is attributed to the Austrian-born American architect and industrial designer Henry P. Glass. The biomorphic contours reflect the mid-century embrace of organic, sculpted forms, moving away from rigid rectilinear casework toward dynamic, flowing lines influenced by modern sculpture. Standing 38 cm high with a top diameter of 86 cm, the table offers well-balanced proportions designed to accompany low lounge chairs or a central sofa.
