Each faceted tier is shaped as an inverted truncated pyramid, creating pronounced refraction and prismatic highlights across the precision-cut edges as ambient light passes through the glass. A central polished chrome rod passes through the hollow core of each crystal block, securing the entire assembly firmly to the weighted foot. At the top, the rod terminates in a chrome-plated standard bayonet (b22) lamp holder equipped with screw-collar shade rings to accommodate a standard lampshade. The lamp is wired with clear twin flex incorporating an in-line rocker switch and a transparent moulded uk three-pin plug. With its clean, stepped architectural lines evocative of art deco skyscraper forms and classic hollywood regency interior styling, the piece was probably made in the late 20th century. Although unsigned, the solid optical crystal construction provides reassuring weight and ballast, preventing tipping when displayed on a desk, sideboard, or bedside table. Standing 37 cm high to the top of the bulb holder with a square base footprint of 14 cm across, the lamp offers a versatile scale suited to varied lampshade styles. It is reported to be working and is shown lit with an ordinary bayonet bulb. As with all pre-owned domestic electrical appliances, professional rewiring or safety testing by a qualified specialist is recommended before regular use.
