The front elevation centres on a single shaped-top door decorated with an intricate geometric strapwork moulding, flanked by twin fielded side pilasters and resting on a heavy moulded plinth base. Opening the cupboard reveals a well-proportioned interior divided by a single fixed oak shelf, creating two practical storage tiers suitable for spices, apothecary jars or small personal valuables. The door is hung on sturdy iron strap hinges mounted to the internal framework and fastens with an iron lock, complete with a pierced shaped escutcheon and key. Directly beneath the main cupboard section, a single drawer slides smoothly on traditional side runners, fitted to the front with an iron teardrop ring handle. The drawer interior is thoughtfully partitioned into separate sections, including a wide main compartment beside two narrower divided wells designed for organizing small utensils or specialist tools. Crafted in solid oak displaying deep colour and prominent grain figuring, the cabinet stands 74 cm high and measures 36 cm across its widest point. Probably produced in the eighteenth century during the Georgian period, it shows authentic period construction with pegged joints and a three-board back panel pre-drilled for wall fixing. Age-related characteristics include an old vertical shrinkage split to the backboards, minor surface indentations and honest historical wear to the interior base. See less
