The hot-worked glass captures the contours of heads inclined toward each other, with elongated arms wrapped around the torsos and waist, tapering smoothly downward into a single fluted column. Formed from heavy clear crystal, the figures contain dense suspensions of crackled gold foil leaf encased within the molten gather. Subtle undertones of dusky pink and golden amber glow through the thick transparent gather, catching ambient light across the polished surfaces and reflecting through the metallic inclusions inside the bodies and spreading across the base. The underside of the flared foot has a polished concave pontil recess. Inscribed along the inner perimeter is a diamond-point engraved mark reading ""Martin Evans / IWIG"", identifying the work of maker Martin Evans for Isle of Wight Studio Glass. Four circular protective cushion pads remain positioned around the bottom resting rim. Measuring 29 cm in overall height, the sculpture exhibits substantial solid glass weight typical of hand-manipulated British studio glass produced during the late 20th century. The piece requires no additional stand, resting firmly on its weighted circular base for display on a shelf, mantle, or illuminated tabletop. See less
