This one-of-a-kind, handmade wool rug is hand knotted from durable, hand-spun wool. It is a vintage rug that has never been used. To give it the look of an antique, the pile was rubbed down by hand with lava stone, again and again, until it was low and gently worn. That is where the name Lavastone comes from, and it is why the brown field and the gold border look softened. You may notice an abrash in the brown field, a soft shift in shade within a single color. Together with the artisan-tied knots and the small irregularities of handmade work, it gives the rug its own personality. The softened outlines of the flowers and vines are part of the look. The result is a smooth, low surface that slides easily under doors and chair legs, holds up in busy rooms, and does not show footprints.

It holds a full living room seating group, a dining table for six to eight, or a spacious primary bedroom.
