A rare table lamp representing Polish industrial design of the 1960s. Model 1155 stands out for its distinctive construction and carefully considered form, combining functionality with a decorative lighting effect. This small piece perfectly illustrates the attention given to the design of everyday interior objects during that period.
The lamp was designed by Apolinary Jan Gałecki, an architect and designer whose professional work was closely associated with lighting. He worked as chief designer at Stołeczne Zakłady Metalowe nr 2 Przemysłu Terenowego in Warsaw, where lamps featuring original constructions and a modern approach to form were produced. His designs are now regarded as interesting examples of post-war Polish design, with selected models appearing at auctions and in vintage dealers' collections.
Model 1155 dates from the 1960s and was manufactured by the Warsaw-based Stołeczne Zakłady Metalowe nr 2. This was a period when Polish design increasingly explored new solutions, combining simplicity of means with expressive forms. Lamps designed at the time were intended not only to serve a practical purpose but also to contribute to the character of an interior. Today, they are appreciated by collectors and enthusiasts of vintage Polish design, particularly when preserved in good condition.
The lamp is in very good vintage condition. Its compact size makes it ideal for a bedside table, desk, sideboard or shelving unit. It would complement a mid-century modern interior, as well as more eclectic spaces featuring Polish furniture and vintage accessories. The power cable, including the switch and plug, has been replaced with a new one, so the lamp is ready to use.
An interesting choice for anyone looking for an unusual vintage object with a story rather than a contemporary decoration inspired by the past. This rarely encountered model is equally appealing as a functional table lamp or as part of a collection of Polish design from the 1960s.
