The composition pairs an active gun aiming his shotgun skyward alongside an attentive companion standing at the ready with his firearm carried barrels-down. The figures are modelled with realistic texture throughout their country clothing, showing the creasing of heavy field jackets, bellows pockets, cartridge bags slung across shoulders, and sturdy breeches tucked into tall boots. Subtle facial details capture their upward concentration, while a small fence post set between them anchors the rough, textured ground that forms the integral base. Cast in bronze with a warm mid-brown patinated finish, the surface displays darker shading in the recessed folds of the garments and textured groundwork, highlighting the modelled forms under direct light. The piece measures 16 cm high by 15 cm long, offering a balanced freestanding group without requiring an additional plinth. The rear edge of the naturalistic base is stamped with the artist’s oval 'MS' monogram alongside the incised edition number '30/75', denoting this piece as number 30 from a limited casting run of 75. The sculpture remains in clean, sound order throughout, with straight barrels, intact extremities, and even patination across all surfaces. See less
