Rendered in a distinctive contemporary wildlife manner, the figures emerge centrally from an unadorned neutral grey background, directing immediate attention towards the textural complexity and saturated coloration of the two animals. The portrait blends angular, geometric faceting with spontaneous gestural runs to build volume and surface interest. Rich tangerine and burnt orange tones define the dense coats, overlaid across the contours with lively streaks of magenta, violet, and turquoise. Across both faces, intricate mosaic-like marks in shades of slate grey, white, and soft lilac describe the deeply creased skin, heavy brow ridges, and expressive eyes, resolving along the lower neckline into deliberate vertical paint drips. Painted in oil on rigid board, the composition is housed within a substantial stepped timber frame finished in pale grey, detailed with an inner silvered fillet and a clean white border slip. The square presentation measures 108 cm by 108 cm overall, including the surround, creating an imposing decorative presence suitable for contemporary interiors. The reverse of the backing panel is inscribed in black ink with the signature of British contemporary artist Stephen Ford, together with the title 'Two Of Us' and the date 2023. The verso is fitted with steel screw eyes and strong picture cord, ensuring the framed piece is ready for wall hanging. See less
