A ceramic wall tile plaque by Helmut Friedrich Schäffenacker (1921-2010). Made in Germany, this triangular plaque depicts a seated figure in a boat with blue, yellow, and white sails. A second boat is in the background against the blue-green background. The plaque is marked to the verso.
Helmut Friedrich Schäffenacker completed an apprenticeship with sculptor Rudolf Pauschinger before opening his own studio "Atelier Schäffenacker." During the second half of the 1950s, Schäffenacker shifted his focus to making ceramic wall panels, primarily with figurative motifs in relief. Schäffenacker continued to create until 1993, when his kiln fell into disrepair.
