The tall ceramic vessel has a gently rounded body, sloping shoulders, and a short neck, finished in a creamy white glaze with hand-painted brown decoration. Stylized botanical motifs and simple linear bands encircle the vessel, while areas of fading and surface wear give the decoration a beautifully time-softened quality. Subtle glaze variations and irregularities reflect its handmade character and long history of use.

Originally used for storing or transporting wine and other liquids, this jar makes a wonderful decorative object today. Its elegant shape and neutral palette allow it to stand alone on a console, cabinet, or pedestal, or to be grouped with other antique Chinese pottery. The softly weathered surface works beautifully in Santa Fe, wabi-sabi, boho chic, rustic, eclectic, or contemporary interiors.
