The Statue of Liberty was designed by French sculptor Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi, and donated by France to the United States in 1875. The familiar-seeming face of this sculpture embodies a centuries-long European artistic tradition of personifying values, ideas, and even countries in the forms of women. While we don't know the identity of the woman, she has the familiar look and ambiguous expression of the Statue of Liberty; she seems to signify patriotism, liberty, and freedom.
Made by an Italian company called “Amphora”, the sculpture likely dates to the early-to-mid part of the 20th century. It is stamped “Made in Italy AMPHORA” on the base.
It measures 10”w x 8”d x 17”h.
